Why is it recommended to supress the direct ray when including RCS in Winprop

Hi everyone,
I want to do a monostatic Radar Channel Simulation with Winprop with SRT. We are thinking about to include a radar cross section. I've read in another discussion that it is recommended to supress the direct Ray.
Can u explain me why it is recommended?
Thanks
Felix

Hi Felix,
For applications where the point of interest is to use RCS information of objects in the propagation model, the direct ray is not needed. The Tx and Rx are defined at the same point. Thus the rays of interest are the reflected rays from those objects back to the Tx based on the angle of reflection and the information included in the RCS file.
I hope this was helpful.Best Regards,
Zeina
