How to shift origin?

Hello all,

I am simulation particles filled in a cylinder. I wanted to print potential energy of the system, but it is negative.

This is because origin of the geometry is by default considered as the centre of mass.

Is there any way to shift origin to the geometry bottom corner, so that my all particles have positive coordinates.

I tried "local origin offset" option in geometries.

But it doesn't work still I got negative potential energy (mgh) hence, negative total energy.

    Hi Alok,

Currently EDEM always takes the potential energy based on the global coordinates, so any particles below z=0 position will be given a -ve potential energy.  The position and mass of the particles can be exported via the Analyst > Export Results Data options so the energy can be calculated manually based on a user defined baseline from that method.

Otherwise you would have to ensure that your geometry base is set to 0 in Z, either through the initial creation in the ordinal CAD program (EDEM imports the CAD based on the global coordinate system) or once it is imported you can use the Transform option to ensure it is in the correct position:
