you can try using the tool 'Tools>>edges' and try to merge the loose nodes by using 'equivalence' under a certain tolerance.

I tried first checking the free edges and it can be seen that in that places there is no free edge. (image below)
Then I tried by doing an equivalence as you have set and when selecting th element I can not select the node or the cbeam element. Any idea?
I have also thought about connecting them with RB2 elements and didn't work.
