My Altair Flux using 380GB of My Allocable Memory. What is the Problem behind this?

I have started using Altair Flux for Emag Simulations for the Motors from this month. For a few days the Flux ran ok. My Laptop has 12 core processor and 32GB RAM. After completing the Geometry works, I started Meshing (Ctrl + M). After few Seconds, an error arose, saying that there is not enough memory. Then, I Checked for the Merory allocation, only 8GB was allocated from the 32GB. So, I increased the memory to 85% (30GB). And started over Meshing again, but the same error arose. Then I chose Dynamic memory option and allocated the same 85%. And started over Meshing Again, this time the mesh creation was successful. The Mesh Count was 4.1 Million. Then I proceeded to coil creation. It ran well for the next few days. But one Day the Project file started to close automatically. I tried to Reopen the Project, but it said there is no enough memory. Then, I allocated virtual memory of 70GB, So now total memory is 100GB. Then, I was able to open the project. The Flux was consuming 80GB of that memory, while running the project. Again, while working, the project started to close automatically again. Then, while trying to Reopen the Project, it said there is no enough memory. Then, I allocated virtual memory of 220GB, So now total memory is 250GB. Then, I was able to open the project. This time, The Flux was consuming 130GB of that memory, while running the project. Again, while working, the project started to close automatically again. This time When I reopen the Project, The Project always started normally. But in a few minutes, it closes automatically. Then finally, I allocated virtual memory of 400GB, So now total memory is 430GB. Then, I was able to open the project, and run normally. But this time, The Flux was consuming 380GB of that memory, while running the project.

Note: At all phases, I was checking the dedicated RAM (32GB) usage. At all time, there was minimum 15GB of unused RAM.

At all Phases, I tried deleting the mesh completely.

At all Phases, I tried opening an empty project.

At all Phases, I tried opening an Example Project.

Finally, I tried Reinstalling the software.

But the Problems, Remains the Same.

I am a Noob to FLUX, So kindly Guide me in this.

    Hi Simon,

This is a very strange problem. I can't think of anything that will cause the requirement of the allocated memory to increase while the project only need 11 GB to open.

If I understood well even when you try to start a new project or open an example model it is behaving on the same way and you have the same problem?

Do you have this problem before or may be it is first time you are using Flux ?

There is a hotfix 2022.0.1 released for Flux 2022. I don't see this issue as one of defects that fixed on this hotfix. But I would say it worth to give it a try.

     Thanks,

    Hi Elamin,

I installed the Hotfix update, still the project closes automatically after a certain period of time.
