SimSolid Trial : Unable to add license file

edited September 3 in Community Q&A

Hi everyone,

I have SimSolid Trial version which i try to upgrade to Simsolid advance for using Buckling analysis. I receive license file from License@altair.com but I'm unable to activate my SimSolid advance license because the "License Setup" dialog doesn't appear when I start the program. I can't find any option in the interface to manually enter my license information.

I've tried restarting the program, reinstall but nothing changes. The documentation says the setup dialog should open automatically, but it doesn't for me.

Please suggest how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance!

Pichaya.

    Hello Pichaya,

    Greetings from Altair!

I hope you're doing well. Could you please let me know what type of license you have so we can offer you specific guidance based on that information?

Additionally, here are some steps to help resolve this type of issue:

    1. Check Installation:

Ensure that you have the correct version of SimSolid installed. Sometimes, issues arise if there’s a mismatch between the trial version and the advanced version. Reinstall the SimSolid software, making sure to download the latest version from Altair’s website.

    2. Manual License File Placement:

      1. Sometimes, placing the license file directly in the installation directory can help. Copy the license file you received from License@altair.com and place it in the installation directory of SimSolid. This directory is typically found in:
        • For Windows: C:\Program Files\Altair\SimSolid\

Restart SimSolid after placing the file correctly there

    3. Check Environment Variables:

Ensure that environment variables for Altair or SimSolid are set correctly. Sometimes, these variables need to be configured for the license to be recognized.

    4. Run as Administrator:

          • Try running SimSolid as an administrator. Right-click on the SimSolid shortcut and select "Run as administrator". This sometimes helps with issues related to permissions that might be preventing the license dialog from appearing.
          • Ensure that your system meets the requirements for SimSolid Advanced and that there are no compatibility issues.
