Corupted Files in EDEM
Hello,
sometimes when I save my EDEM projects I get this error and the project can't be used anymore.
I even tried an empty project and got the same error.
Kind regards

Hi Alexander,
When you say you tried with an empty project, do you mean completely empty and only hitting save, or did you change something before saving?
I can see there is an old bug that mentions this error, which related to some contact model parameters not being set, but this was addressed quite a few releases ago. Are you using 2021.1?
Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard,
yes, by empty project I mean a completly empty project and hitting save. This error does not occur every time. I can save and run some models and some corrupt after saving
I use EDEM 2021.1

Putting aside the issue that it happens on new decks as well, which seems very strange, in the case where you took the image above, what contact model are you using?

Hi Richard,
I looked into the Error a bit more and have to apologize. I mixed to seperate errors in my head together. The error from this post didn't occure in new decks.
My contact model is Herz-Mindeling with JKR V2, Standard Rolling Friction and Bonding V2.

I don't know of an issue with those models and if I create a deck with them I have no such issue, even with EDEM 2021.1.
If possible, can you upload your deck here or send it to support so we can take a closer look? I imagine it's an issue specific to that deck.

Hi,
I figured out that the issue only appears when I transfered a Meta particle from my database into the project. It only happens when there are the same particles in the simulation and in the transfered meta particle, so that the particles in the simulation get replaced.
Perhaps the replacement is the issue, because this was the only thing I always did when the file got corrupted.
When deleting the old particles before transferring everything is normal.

Glad to hear you've found a workaround, though if you'd liked us to look into it further I'll still need the files and data folder for the deck - it's up to you. I imagine there'll be some settings within your meta-particle that are clashing with the physics models of your deck that give rise to the error.
