Missing material, environment & MatCap files in studio 2022.
I have updated Inspire studio to 2022 and have it up and running, but three things are missing. There are no MatCap files in the MatCap tab plus there are no materials or environments in the rendering section. Where/how do I find them?

Hi,
The problem most probably depends on a wrong setting of the Assets folder path in the Preferences.
First of all you should check where the Assets folder has been positioned.
The default path is C:\Users\[CURRENT USER]\Documents\Altair\InspireStudio\Assets)
and if it is not there you should move it in that position (unless you really need it somewhere else).
Then you should run the program and check that the Assets folder in the Preferences is properly set, or fix it.Regards,
Antonio

Hi Antonio,
Thank you for your reply. I can not fine the asset folder. When I try to find it using Finder it can not find any asset folder from Inspire studio. Here is a screen shot of what I have installed on my Mac.

Hi Steve,
Sorry, I didn't see it was you, so I gave Windows path.
Since you solved, could you tell us what you had to do so that others could benefit?
Thanks!

Hi Antonio,
Same problem here with not beeing able to load the materials and models lib. Its not visible in the interface at ll. Gave up trying on the 2022 version, been struggling a couple of of hours now with 2022.01, driving me crazy having to rebuild the application for every update. Any solution to this?
Seems like its reading some parts of the asset folder like matCap and environment. (ref screenshot).

Hi Einar,
I had this problem occur with me 2 times until I finally figured out how to activate the asset folders.
1- Go to Preferences.
2- Click on Common Folders.
3- Then click on Asset Folder.
4- A window will pop open showing the Assets folder. Click Open.
5- Then click Apply in the preferences.
Do the same for the Rendering Folder.
Attached is a screen shot showing what it should look like.
As Antonio writes, along as these 2 folders are in the correct place, these steps should solve the problem.
Just to mention, I'm using a Mac. I don't know if it is the same for Windows.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for advice Steve!
I have now tried it severeal times, also reinstalling the app, and it is still not working. It seems like the shared folder does it job regarding matCap and environments, but it fails to show materials and models in the rendreing section, not even the symbols and this is so odd! There must be a bug somewhere. Selecting and apply in the preferences was the trick earlier on but not anymore it seems.

Hi Einar,
Be aware that in the new version of Inspire Studio 2022 they have moved the Material & Model Library to the Model Browser.
By clicking on the 2 VERY SMALL arrows you can navigate to back and forth to find the different libraries.
See screen shot.

Thank you Steve, my fault not noticing that, but why on earth did it get moved there?
Btw. Nice designs on your website :-)

Good to hear that I could help.
Yes, I agree about the new position, for me it dose not make much sense. Altair should then remove the Material icon in the rendering window to be more consequent. Maybe they will do that in the next update.
Thank you for the nice comment regarding my work. I had a look at your website, very nice work from your side as well.
You are always welcome to contact me if you have any other issues with Inspire Studio.
Best regards
Steve
