Renew license for 100 PCs.

Hello! I am a Professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the State of Ceará (IFCE) in Brazil.

I want to migrate from PSIM Demonstration 2021b to Altair PSIM 2022.2.

However, in the institution where I work, we have 6 computer labs containing, in total, approximately 100 PCs.

I noticed that the license generated for the student version is valid for 1 year, I also noticed that the license file is linked to the HostID of each PC.

I would like to know how do I manage this license in case this time expires.

Do I need to request a new license for each PC? If so, wouldn't it be a highly exhausting job?

Is there another alternative to renew the license of all computers? In an automatic way.

We need to use PSIM.

Please help us.

Yours sincerely,
Prof. Fabio Lavor Bezerra.

    Hi, Professor Bezerra,

If you and your students have used PSIM2021b demo version, it means that you have a PSIM legacy license. All the licenses for PSIM2021 demo version have expired.

If you want to move to Altair PSIM2022 and newer versions, please go to Altair's Global Academic Program. You will get help to install and setup the account to meet all your needs.

The link is: Educators | Altair's Global Academic Program

If you are using a different PSIM license, and have received the "account expired" messages from your students, please read the post in this link and follow those steps:

    https://community.altair.com/community?id=community_question&sys_id=caa326afdb3d6990cfd5f6a4e2961996

Please run "ComputerID.exe" on one of your computers and send the screenshot to the support ticket.

    Sincerely,

    Rhonda

    Hi Rhonda!

"If you and your students have used PSIM2021b demo version, it means that you have a PSIM legacy license. All the licenses for PSIM2021 demo version have expired."

This information, for me, is a novelty! Because on the powersimtech website ( https://powersimtech.com/products/psim/psim-pricing-and-licensing/download-demo/ ) the 2021b demo version is free. No license required. Precisely for this reason we are using it in our institution.

Maybe you didn't understand the situation but I'll write again.

We are looking to migrate from the PSIM 2021b version (demo and free version) to the PSIM 2022.2 version (Altair).

We have 6 computer labs which would have more or less 100 PCs.

I noticed that to acquire a license in PSIM 2022.2 (Altair) it is necessary to generate a file and this file is linked with the Host ID of the PC.

I also noticed that this license generated is valid for 1 year.

I'm going to rephrase the questions that are hypothetical because we haven't installed version 2022.2 (altair) yet.

Personally, I installed it on my personal PC, which is why I reached the previous conclusions.

In view of the above, I repeat the questions:

    1) If we install PSIM 2022.2 (Altair) on 100 PCs, is it necessary to generate a license for each PC?
1.1) Is this license linked to the Host ID of each PC?
    2) In the future when the license expires, how is the renewal done?
2.1) Should this renewal be performed PC by PC?
2.3) Or is there another less laborious and faster way?

The answer given to us earlier was very generic and unfortunately did not suit us.
We have asked specific questions and are waiting for specific answers.

    A lot of peace!

    Yours sincerely,
    Prof. Fabio Lavor Bezerra.

    Hi, Professor Bezerra,

Sorry I confused your PSIM demonstration version with the free-teaching license version.

Sorry, there is no more demo version after PSIM2021b.

You only need one license for the whole university. But as how this is implemented, you need to contact the Academic Program team.

Please click the button "Request your software" and fill the form in the link:
