Hello,

Please how can I perform Parallel computing in Altair Flux Software 2018?

Please, could you show me some advantages and inconveniences of  Parallel computing?

Sincerly

    Hello Clement,

Parallel computing is introduced as new feature in 2018.

This feature only affects linear system resolution, parallel efficiency strongly depends on the project size and the non-linear convergence. Best results will be obtained with few non-linear iterations involving large linear systems to be solved. Parallel computing on several nodes, using MUMPS distributed, will significantly reduce the computation time if the linear system to solve is large enough (size > 4 million degrees of freedom). On smaller linear systems (300 000 < size < 4 million degrees of freedom), parallel computing on a single node, using MUMPS local can be preferred.

On Flux 2D and small linear system, parallel computing may not be efficient and sequential computation is advised.

    Thank you,

    Lavanya
