Calculating contact Stiffness value in Optistruct
In PCONT Property, i am using STIFF option.
I am aware how to use Auto/Hard/Soft.
Can you help me with how to define STIFF_REAL_VALUE? Real values has to be defined in +ve/-ve. What impact will +ve/-ve values will have?
Can we find Normal stiffness scaling factor in Optistruct? It will help me in defining Real stiffness value.
I will be glad if you can share me a reference file or anything to understand it better.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Karthick,
Unless you directly prescribe the stiffness, there is not a way to output this calculated with the AUTO/SOFT/HARD options. It is based on the stiffness of surrounding elements. You may use the CONTF output option to look at contact forces, contact status, pressure, etc.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Karthick,
Please see below documentation on PCONT for the STIFF_REAL_VALUE. Placing a number in this field directly prescribes a stiffness value if it is positive. A negative number scales the automatic stiffness value applied by AUTO. AUTO automatically determines the stiffness of the contact element based on the stiffness of surrounding elements.

Rob

Thanks Rob,
Please assist me with how can I find the contact stiffness calculated during the contact simulation?
