it appears as a line but is actually a protruding surface. so i want to delete it, but when i zoom in, the line disappears.
please let me know how to selcet the line

May be the srface is deleted in that small area which is now showing as free edge.
You can just fill that gap by creating surface by using ruled option and equivalence the edges.
You can also use patch fill option as shown in below image. You need to just select the edges.
