What is Heat per unit volume signifies?

I have a small query regarding Hyperworks CFD : " If we are giving Heat source value (assume 0.5 W) per unit volume for a cell (assume 18560 cell) , what does this means ; either it is (0.5W / 16 cubic cm = 31250W/m^3) or (0.5W for 1 cell assuming 1 cell as 1 unit) and if I have a battery pack of 40 cells battery pack how should the value of heat source would like to be assuming  1 cell is generating 0.5W heat output.

Heat to be dissipated =  0.5W , Volume of a cell = 16 cm^3

Please let me know as this is creating a lot of confusion.

You can define a heat source as 'per unit volume' or 'per unit mass'.  If you choose to use 'per volume' then you need to use the volume in units consistent with everything else about the model.  Assuming your model geometry is in meters, you would divide the total heat (0.5W) by the volume (in m^3) to which you are applying that heat - and use that resultant value in W/m^3.
