Connect a Laminate and a PBEAM
Hi there,
I´ve been having a problem. Im trying to modelate a rectangular laminate and simulate a 3-point bending simulate to the laminate. I have 2 study cases:
-The first i test only the laminate
-The second one i remove some part of the honeycomb and insert a PBEAM is a rectangular cross section so it can fill the space where the honeycomb was taken off
When i run the analisys on OpticStruct, the results with honeycomb and w/o honey comb with PBEAM are exactly the same. It´s like the analisys are not studying the influence of the beam.
I attached the two files im testing.
teste.hm - is the normal laminate at 3 point bending
testefirewall - is the laminate with the BEAM reinforcement
Is that something to do with element connectivity?

Hi,
Even without the beam the results are same. Looks like the structure stiffness did not change with beam
Try this. Remove some more honeycomb (say upto half of the length) and use Beam.

But is it to give the exact same value with and without honeycomb and with or without beam? Gonna try this now and iºll give you feedback soon
Thanks for the answer

Just tested you suggestion, and i´m having the same conclusion.
As you can see on the image i attached, the results are different now because i removed the honeycomb, but with or without PBEAM it makes no difference. Is it anything to do with welding the beam or to the analisys it isn´t necessary?

Hi,
I am going to run few test cases and I will update to you soon.
