Special characters in a TXT data file

Hi,

In one of our data sets, we have the names of people that contain special characters (like: á, é, ó) and they get translated to multiple character values that skew the data in that row.  For example:

Value in the .TXT file contains:  László

Value when added to Monarch is:  László

And the fields afterwards get pushed over by 2 spaces and that record is ignored.  I cannot figure out a trap that will work to include this value.

Is there a setting that can be adjusted or a way to fix this problem?

    Hi Denise,

Have you tried to change the character set encoding, for example to UTF-8 encoding?

Monarch Classic: Home -> Options -> Input -> Text Files

Data Prep Studio: Settings (on Report Design view) -> Input
