Post-processing in optimization: Iso Value

Hi, 

After an optimization with a constraint on the volumefrac if I go in the Iso Value panel I see there's a field which is called Current Value in which I can set a number.

What does this number mean?

    The Iso panel allows you to display single iso values (iso surfaced for solids or iso line for shells) dependent on results data.  The result data used to calculate the iso surfaces or values can be specified independently of the result data selected in the Contour panel, even though most of result selection options are similar to the contour options.  Since an iso value is independent of contour results, for OptiStruct design space optimization results, you can apply a single iso surface for density, then contour stress results on the generated iso surface.  Combining contour, iso value, and transparent global boundary geometry (shortcut key 'T') is an excellent way to investigate hot spots of result data.  By varying the iso value slider bar, you can easily observe critical areas.

    Hi @mabefa

     

    Iso current value in other words used to filter elements based on the contour. You can use ISO panel for different results type and not just of optimization. Basically, the current value is the contour value. 

     

    As you move the slider, elements falling below the current value will be hidden/masked/filtered over elements with the current value and above are displayed. 

     

    For example, stress for a structure is min=10 and max=100. So, with slider to the extreme left, you can see all elements whose stress falls in the range of 10 to 100 and as you move the slider to the right, elements disappear whose value is less than the current value.
