Hello, I'm trying to simulate charge/discharge multiple lithium ion battery cell on PSIM. Before we get started in earnest, let's start by showing the details of 'Li-ion battery (cell)' components first.

image

These are the components as shown in the attached image, and the detailed settings are also as shown in the attached image. If it‘s charging circuit‘s cell, Initial State of Charge is 0, otherwise, Initial State of Charge should be 1 in discharging circuit. Other parameters are same regardless of charge or discharge.

First of all, referring to the attached file (It is thought to be a lithium ion battery simulation guide made by ALTAIR), we tried the test of a single cell. The results are as follows, and great results are produced.

After that, we increased the number of cells in the order of 2 series 1 parallel and 1 series 2 parallel and conducted the simulation. The results come out normally as shown in the attached. (2s1p is twice the voltage).

but from 2s2p,  on-words, the waveform is noisy when the serial-parallel connection is made at the same time. This is as shown in the attached.

Finally, 2s9p, that is, the result of simulation by making the final circuit. As shown in the attachment, the noise is so severe that it is difficult to find out the result.

I) 2series 9 parallel charging

II) 2 series 9 parallel discharging

  1. On how to remove noise as much as possible and to output a normal charge/discharge graph.
  2. Whether I set the cell parameter wrong.
  3. Are there any other errors

I attached below which is simulation files for 2s9p charging/discharging circuits.

I want to know and I'm asking. Thank you for reading this long.

    Hi, An Tae Ho,

In your "test of a single cell" result, when the voltage reaches the maximum value, there already exists the oscillation.
Please check the SOC value along with the battery's voltage and current.

I have tested in a few different conditions with your battery parameters. It seems that the SOC curve is not corresponding with the charging curve.

If you can, please attach the battery's datasheet which contains the charge/discharge curves.

Please read "Tutorial - Lithium-Ion Battery Model.pdf" to learn how to use the battery model. You can find this tutorial document in PSIM's "Help >> Tutorials"

    Sincerely,
    Rhonda

    Hi, An Tae Ho,

I just observed SOC of batteries 7 and 16 are different than others. If we remove them, some disturbance is removed. Please check once. And as Rhonda said, if you can share data sheet, we can see in detail.

    Thanks,

    Vishwanatha Siddhartha
