Free edge not displaying in the graphics window, unsolved using equivalence

Hello all,

I am using Hypermesh 2017 to create a large model of an organic structure (mammal inner ear) with 2 enclosed volumes. I need to tetramesh the outer volume however there is a singular free edge making this impossible. I have tried to locate/fix the free edge by:

1. Isolating the edge component and cycling through multiple colors to make it more visible

2. Using the find tool to locate connected elements (these elements are actually from components which I am not attempting to tetramesh themselves instead of the new component I made to define my desired volumes bounds)

3. Blindly using equivalence to get rid of it

4. Deleting and remaking surrounding elements

The volume I'm trying to fill is bounded by a 2D mesh of triangular elements. I've attached a picture of the area the find tool located. Thank you to whoever is willing to take a look at this post, please let me know if more information would be helpful to you.

Best,

Nick

    Hey Nick,

It is possible that you have a collapsed element. Do an element check and look for elements with large angles (>170degrees) and see if that helps isolate the problem.

One additional trick you could use is to display the element numbers. That way if you have a collapsed element that is not visible graphically, it will be visible due to the displayed element number.
