Hi! I am working on the optimization of a structural steel connection (maximizing stiffness). I used the inertia relief analysis to avoid placing a support that affects the optimization results. I know that by using the inertia relief analysis, the sum of the total applied forces on the structure is zero, since the applied forces are balanced by inertia forces.
Kindly, I would like ask the following:
Since the inertia forces are balancing the applied forces, there is no changes in applying different magnitudes on the connection? In other words, by using the inertia relief analysis, the optimized shape is independent on the applied forces?
I appreciate any clarification about this issue.
