Hello,

I was doing finite element modelling and analysis of bolted joints most probably using optistruct. As you realize bolted joints will be subjected to clamping forces and i should recreate that. I already have magnitudes of clamping forces. So should i create load collector and apply load constraints in the form of surface loads or should i do 3D Bolt pretension? I am kinda confused between these two .

you could create the pretension load step for the bolts, and add these magnitudes as bolt loads for pretension.
