Hello everyone

Recently I need to compute motor magnet joule loss by using Flux 3D.

It is easy to compute in Flux 2D.(Like Below)

However in Flux 3D , I can't choose solid conductor in solid conductor region.(See below)

Is there any other method can compute magnet joule loss in Flux 3D?

Please let me know.

thanks

    Hi,

Yes, you are right in case of Flux 3d there is no need to use solid conductor component in the circuit. For this reason, you can’t see the circuit component in the volume region.

To compute the magnet losses, you need to create a sensor type predefined formula you select joule loss on volume region (magnets).

    Thanks.

    Hello Abdessamed

    Thanks for your reply.

I just tried your suggestion set a sensor to detect magnet joule loss.

    image

However, the joule loss value is always 0.

    It's not make sense.

    Do you have any suggestion?

    Hi Hallay,

Do you have resistivity defined in the magnet material property?

If yes, the other reason is that you selected not including eddy currents during the solving process. Could you unselect it and solve it? You will get Joule losses on magnets computed.

    Thank you,

    Lavanya

    Hi Lavanya

    Thanks for your reply.

Attachment is my magnet definition, I add resistance.

Can you tell me where can select or unselect eddy currents during dolving process?

    I can't find it.

    Hi Hallay,

In the magnet volume region, You will see an option to select Eddy currents to be not considered or considered.

    Hello Lavanya

    Thanks for your help.

Now I can solve magnet eddy current loss in 3D simulation.
