Maximum number of time increment cutbacks reached
Hi,
I am solving a NLSTAT, LGDISP with follower load and surface to surface cont sliding contact.
Errors out 'Maximum number of time increment cutbacks reached'
tried using EXPERTNL, YES ; Increased value of NLPARM, NINC ; Increased value of NLADAPT, NCUTS but still facing the same issue.
Please do have a look at OUT file attached and suggest me how to resolve it
Thank you

Hi Karthic,
Can you update to 2017.2.2 and check if the model converges in that version?

Hi Prakash,
I tried solving in 2017.2.2 but the same issue of non convergence due to Maximum number of time increment cutbacks reached persist.
Please suggest me what could be the issue.
Thank you

Karthic,
Could you please share the model file using fiile transfer link available in my signature?

Sure, i have shared it.
Thank you for the quick response.

Hi Karthic,
I think the problem is with the constraints. If you animate the model with your constraints, you can see large rotational displacement for the component guide.
Maybe you should re-think about constraints. I am attaching the animation file for your reference.

Hi Prakash,
Please take a look at the animation file for older model. The guide is supposed to rotate about the hinge.
my issue with the updated model is that contact is not taking place.

yes the load direction in video is correct. the guide is suppose to load the leaf spring

Yes, the load in the video seems reasonable but the load in the model shared pushes the guide in the opposite direction to that of the video.
Can you share the old file please to check what went wrong?
Did you scale the model by any chance?

I ran a static analysis and I see huge displacement. Can you check if the model is scaled or is anything missing compared to old model?

Good morning Prakash,
No i didn't scale it, I have just rotated and repositioned the old file mesh to prepare the new model.
I have shared the old model for your reference.
Have a great day

Hi Prakash,
I am trying to apply follower load using FORCE1 (FORCE1 entry can be defined as Follower Loads in Large Displacement Nonlinear Analysis)
In the file shared you have used FORCE. Can we use FORCE for follower loads?
0 -
Hi Karthic,
I have used the model as it is with some changes. I presumed the force as FORCE1.
I will check once again and will come back to you

Hi Prakash,
Thanks you. Please answer, Can i use FORCE for follower loads??

Hi @Karthic
According to help FORCE1 is preferred for follower loads when using large displacement analysis type.
FORCE one worked in this case but need to investigate the results.
