Contact not working

Hi,

I am trying a simple case to understand the contact behavior in Optistruct. I tried using search distance for contact pair but it didn't work out

Can you please suggest me why the contact is not working in my model attached.

Hi Karthik,

Run NLSTAT analysis instead of Linear static and check the results.

Karthik,

Contacts are non-linear and you have friction on top of it. So linear wil ignore contact at this point.

I tried the same model with transient load case..

Analysis type- Non linear transient

Sub case option Analysis type - DTRAN

I am getting error

A fatal error has been detected during input processing:

*** ERROR 14: Missing NLOUT # 99 referenced by SUBCASE # 1.

How to resolve it. Please do help with this

HI,

I overcame the above by creating a NLOUT card.

I am getting

*** ERROR # 4942 ***
NLOUT card needs to be issued for transient subcase 1 for output.

Help me in resolving it

Hi Kartic

In load step option go to subcase options, under that you will find subcase_unsupoorted activate it and in comments type NLOUT,10,NINT,10,SVNONCNV,YES

Yes contacts should work with non-linear unless there are any modelling issues.

I tried the case of NLGEOM with a contact. Its not taking contact, where as the same contact model works fine for Nonlinear static case...

Pls take a look @ model..
