Textures updating

Previously when you changed a texture in Photoshop, Evolve 2014 would automatically update when rendering. In 2015 the texture will not update until you quit and restart. I could use a 'Update' bottom or a tip how to force update in the new renderer...thanks!

    Hi Lunau,

What do you mean by quit and restart? On my machine with Evolve 2015.4947, if I change the source texture file and then just go to shaded mode and back into Interactive rendering mode, the texture updates. Restarting the interactive render will refresh any and all textures.

I dont have to quit or restart the program. Please let me know if I understood the problem correctly.

    Thank you,

    Hi Arjun,

    Thanks for you quick response.

Unfortunately you little trick is not working on Evolve 2015(4940)/iMac...no update!

Can I do something from my part to make it work?

Please update the Evolve version to 4947 available on our website. Let me know if it doesn't work with the new version.

    Hi again Arjun,

I have tried the same, now in Evolve 2015.4947- and I continue to have the same issue...I have to restart or apply an other material and then back to the updated material for Evolve to utilize the updated material....can you look in to it for me, thanks!

    Hi Lunau,

I will contact the development team and find out if there is a reason for this. It could be graphics card related.
Can you please give me your graphics card information here?

    Thank you,
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,

I tried this on my homecomputer, an iMac with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX card installed.

Further I can tell you, that the display of the altered texture is the same when switzing between shaded mode and back into Interactive rendering mode, but also the rendering keeps rendering with the same texture first applied and not the actual new altered texture. Hope you get my point - english is not my first language.

    Hi Lunau,

Here is the reply from our rendering lead. Please try the following and let me know if anything changes.

in 2015 the internal file cache was released at the end of the final rendering. If the texture file name is the same, the file is not reloaded.

A possible workaround may be the following :

    -          Update the texture file and save it.

    -          Stop IR

    -          Run a final rendering, and stop it after a few seconds. (you should see the old texture)

    -          Restart the IR. You should see the updated image.

This has been fixed in 2016.
