modal weighting coefficient

Hi,

I am analyzing the characteristic modes of one unit cell like patch antenna configuration in FEKO. I used surface integral equation and volume integral equation and plane wave excitation. I have problem with phase of modal weighting coefficient. If I change (increase or decrease) the mesh size I have different phase values of modal weighting coefficient for unit cell in volume integral equation.   The magnitude of modal weighting coefficient is too small (under 0.01 for mode 1 and mode2). Is the problem plane wave or the orientation of tetrahedrons which effect the phase of modal weighting coefficient?

Best regards

Sevda

What is your cell size? Usually these issues arise from using a very small cell size. About a third of a wavelenght or more should be sufficient.

If you can attach your cfx file, that would help to assist further.
