The speed of your simulations are primarily determined by the CPU, rather than the RAM. When it comes to RAM in your PC, it's more related to the capacity for storing simulation data points. In other words, increasing your RAM from 16GB to 32GB will allow your PC to handle longer simulations, especially with smaller time steps and many data points.
Having either 16GB or 32GB should suffice for most scenarios but if you face "out of memory" issues, try following the advice in this video. It is likely your simulation results file is quite large but there are some "tricks" to deal with these.
