Guys, do we have 1D element with laminate properties? I have 2 nodes and line between them. Is it possible to create beam/bar made of plies (ply1,ply2,ply3,ply4). I want to create truss with composite beams. Thank you!

    Hi,

Composite Modelizations (Zone based /ply based) are available for 2D and 3D models only. In your case if you want to use 1D elements I suggest you to calcultate An homogenization of stack properties.

Thank you, Thomas. I actually have the following material: unidirectional carbon-fiber reinforced plastic with Ex=100 GPa, Gxy = Gyz = 55 Gpa, Gyz = 2.5 GPa. And I need beams. How to model it? MAT8 card is also for shell elements, it will not work.

This is not only depending of your material, it is also depending of your beam section, the beam theory you want... Best way here is to contact your Altair local support to discuss more in details your set up.
