The rolling motion seems to be conflict with the no-slip condition in Hertz-Mindlin (no slip) model in the EDEM
Dear teams,
I am trying to determine the coefficient of rolling friction in the contact model of Hertz-Mindlin (no slip). But I am not sure what is defination of the no-slip here. If there is no slip between two contact particles, how does the relative rotating of each particles happen?
Can you please give me more explanation about the 'no-slip' and rotating of the particles in the simulation, and give me some reference documents about this?

Hi Chandler,
The "no-slip" here actually means "no-micro-slip" version of the original Mindlin Model proposed in 1949: https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4009973
Then Mindlin and Deresiewicz (1953) proposed a complicated model taking slip and slide into consideration: https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4010702
You can find a comprehensive summary of this aspect given by Renzo and Di Maio (2005): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ces.2004.10.004
Best,
