How can I set part's inertia as an constrain for topology analysis?

Hi,

I am try to optimize a part with topology analysis to meet 1st response frequency with minimum part's inertia.

How can I set inertia in OptiStruct topology analysis? Seems inertia not able to simply defined as mass or volume.

Thanks.

you can create a response (DRESP1), of type 'inertia', and select the axis.

then you cna point it as your objective or constraint, depending on what you want.

    Thanks for help on it.

Could you help explain more about constraint and objective? As I want to optimize part to meet 1st response frequency requirement with minimum part's inertia (say optimize the part to achieve 100Hz response with minimized inertia), frequency should be set to constraint as it have a clear target and inertia should be set to objective as I need to minimize it?
