How to run Optistruct jobs on Ubuntu terminal

Hello Optistruct experts,

I want to use Linux Ubuntu O.S to calculate Optistruct jobs. Could you help instruct me how to submit the jobs from command line.

I browsered to Altair/HWsolvers/Script folder then typed the below command: sudo ./optistruct.bat 'test.fem' -nt 4

But it does not work.

Firstly, you have to know that Ubuntu Linux is NOT supported by Altair Hyperworks.

So try with CentOS Linux, a free distro of RHEL which works well with Hyperworks.

In fact, I can run Hypermesh on Ubuntu then I think Optistruct will work well on Ubuntu.

May I know the command line you use to submit the jobs on CentOS as well?

I search on this forum but there are only few topics on linux O.S.

Try this instead:

 <install_dir>/altair/scripts/optistruct 'filename' -option argument

I know where script is placed. I browsered to script folder then try few linux command but it does not work. (Please read my question in the beginning carefully).

I just do not know how to run *.bat file in Linux.

Hey, how you can found '*.bat' files within Linux installation?!?!

.BAT file is Windows's script format.

No .bat files within my Hyperworks installation under Linux (see screenshot)

All,

.bat is Windows file and can't be used on Linux. Use OptiStruct solver command

 <install_dir>/altair/scripts/optistruct 'filename' -option argument for linux

Based on your advice and comments, I am able to run few Optistruct jobs on my Ubuntu machine successfully. Now I can remote to my Linux machine to run some jobs as well.

I have just installed HW 2021 in Ubuntu 20. It works normally.
