Hi,

I import one step file (a lot of fillet & ribs) to Simlab and create mesh.

But I am not clear which options I should choose? May I know your advice?

If I use SL reader, I cannot mesh but if I choose convert to parasolid, it could be mesh (Same input STEP file)

    Hi,

These are different readers available in SimLab to import STEP models. STEP models are translated models. So, we need to choose the STEP reader according the STEP model. If the STEP model is written from CATIA software, then use SimLab reader to import. If the STEP model is written out from other system, then my suggestion is to go with either 'Convert to Parasolid' or 'External reader'.

    Hi Santhosh,

    Thanks again for your answers.
My models are from NX or SW, it sounds it works well with 'Convert to Parasolid'.

    Hi,

In case NX, either you can use 'Convert to Parasolid' option or you can export as Parasolid file in NX and import inside SimLab.

In case of SW, you can directly import the SolidWorks model in SimLab. Please refer the below image.

    Hi

I am also facing the issue with opening the STP files. The STP is genetrated from Hypermesh.

The surfaces are getting splitted or it is failing to import.(Tried with both CAD and aslo CAD through Translation).

And we are not getting the same IMPORT STEP options that you have mentioned in the first  post.(Mainly Method:)

Iam using  SL19.1 on windows platform.

Can you share your model? I think you should check off 'Optimized' when you exported from HM.

In general, I would strongly recommend to export PARASOLID files from Hypermesh into SimLab.
Starting from v14, HM PArasolid-Export has improved a lot and I would surely recommend it as a interface to SimLab, instead of Step.
Just make some attention to the Units, sometimes HM will export it scaled x1000

    Thanks

In fact, I test some parasolid models exported from HM. Some cases  I am unable to import to SL.

I think we should use native or translated from original CAD software. That is not good process when covert CAD to HM core intermediate.
