Defining 2D shell contacts

Hi,

I am trying to define a shell contact between a circle and a rectangle in a 2D problem, as shown in the picture.

However, the result showed no contact between the circle and the rectangle.

I don't know what steps I am missing. My expected result will be like this

I would like to attach my hm file.

Thanks,

Hung

    Hi Hung

Optistruct doese not provide Edge2Edge contacts.
I would suggest to use CGAP(G) elements with matching node to node mesh.
I have attached an example where this kind of modelling is used.

Hint: In case models are symmetric it is a general recommendation to work with half, symmetric model only.

    Hi Juergen Kranzeder,

Thank you for sharing. The reason I want to create contact is to constrain contact force or contact pressure in the Topology Optimization process.
