PSHELL Thickness

Dear all,

For instance, I have a surface model of a Tube with D = 400mm and thickness = 16mm. So, the middle surface (MS) in the model lies at a diameter of 384mm.

So, I've 2D mesh the middle surface and know I have created a PSHELL property to define the thickness corresponding to the tube.

What thickness should I consider to represent my tube, 8 or 16mm?

If the wall of your tube has a thickness of 16mm you should assign 16mm in your PSHELL card in the 'T'-field.

You can check your MidSurface modeling with the '2D Detailed Element Representation'

Hi HenLopes,

The picture you have shared is not in accordance with your explanation. If the thickness is 16mm, then the inner diameter of the tube is 384mm (400mm - 16mm). So, the midsurface has a diameter of 392mm. And, as Tommy said, assign the thickness of 16mm in your PSHELL card.
