slave and master selection.

Hi 

when i am modeling contacts , i am defining fine meshed body as slave and coarse meshed body as master , but the fine meshed body is mlore stiff when compared to coarse meshed body ( stiffer  should be master ).

Here slave and master selection are conflicting ..

can any one help me ?

Here the one with stiffer material becomes master and the one with softer material becomes slave because whenever we talk in terms stiffness based contact formulation, it has to be based on material properties.

So for penalty formulation it has to do with material stiffness.Stiffer becomes master & softer becomes slave.

 

If material is same and mesh density is same then really it doses not matter whichever you choose as master or slave.
