MS antenna gain

As far as I know, there are two places in Winprop to define MS antenna gain. One is "Mobile Station / Subscriber Statin" from "Air Interface" tab. It has the menu to input "Antenna Gain" in "General Parameters of Mobile Station". Another one is "Consideration of Antenna Properties at Mobile Station" in "Propagation" tab. Per my understanding, if I use FEKO far field antenna data in "Consideration of Antenna Properties at Mobile Station" menu, the antenna gain in "Mobile Station / Subscriber Statin" from "Air Interface" tab will be disregarded. Is that right understanding?

Short answer: Yes, the use of the antenna pattern in the parameters of the mobile station is the most important way to take antenna gain at the mobile station into account. Without it, your mobile-station antenna is assumed to be isotropic with Gain = 1 = 0 dB.

Long answer: the other gain is not overwritten but is used in a different way. My understanding is that the gain you find under the Air Interface tab is used only in combination with a minimum required power (of the mobile station to receive anything). The transmission modes in the air interface file already specify the minimum required SNIR to be able to communicate. On top of that, you can specify that the mobile station needs a minimum received power, e.g. -90 dBm. The antenna gain and the general losses under the Air Interface tab are minor adjustments on the latter power level, and by default they cancel (one adds a dB, the other subtracts a dB).
