Stress Results

I had a doubt regarding the stress analysis results that I got by conducting linear static analysis on a torque arm.

 

For two mesh refinement model I was getting von mises stress less than the absolute maximum principal stress.

For the fine mesh refinement model I got von mises stress more than the absolute maximum principal stress.

 

I am curious as well confused and trying to figure out why this has happened.

 

Any help in this area is highly appreciated.

Hi Akshay,

 

Normally, when you refine the mesh the results get close to the real values !

 

If you refine the mesh and you don't observe this behaviour, maybe your model is over or under constrained.
