Impact analysis using pressure as input instead of velocity
Hello,
I am working on project which involve in impact analysis. I want to find stress generated when a plastic plunger hits a metal plate. I have rough calculation of initial velocity.
I want go with Force as input,
Can i go with pressure instead of initial velocity
Thanks in advance

Hi Teja,
simulating impact problems with force or pressure instead of initial velocity is not the most realistic or simple IMHO.
You would have to define the variation of force or pressure as a function of time during the whole impact event.

You may have to do some backend calculations

Hello,
How can i define the pressure or force with respective time. Can you Please explain in detail.
I can find pressure can be defined using surface.
Thanks in advance

Hello prakash sir,
Can i select the surface of plastic plunger which will strike the steel body and apply pressure on that surface, this will solve the problem or not
thanks in advance

HI,
You can apply pressure using BCs manager and using the Pressure vs time curve.

So you apply a velocity on the plunger which will impact the steel body correct?
If yes, I don't see a problem.
