HyperMesh Crash when importing STEP File
Good day,
I have a student edition license for Hyperworks. When I import a STEP file, the program crashes. When I import the same part with a .dwg file, I can not see the part.
Any help in resolving the problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
No, I have tried all methods of importing geometry. I always get the error shown below.

I am having the same issue with my installation (Student Ed. HyperMesh CFD 2023). I am trying to open a STEP file as the geometry and the program either immediately crashes or provides the "A segmentation error occurred. Do you want to save your model?" error message before closing. I'm using a STEP file that has worked on a 2022 installation on another computer so I am confident it is not the file.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions, thanks in advance.

Hello, I am having the same issue with the Studend license from Hypermesh. When import a geometry, it crashes without any notice. Couldn'd find out a solution yet neither a response. Not the file, tried remove and reinstalled, downloaded it again.

Please take a look at this article
Also make sure you are imported a supported file type for the student version (not all cad, solver types are valid)

I deleted all the setting files as per the article, but the same issue still occurs.
Any other steps that we can follow?

Did you look into all the other options such as graphics driver.
Also can you verify what type of file you are importing. Not all are supported in the student version.

Hi,
I am using STEP files, which I believe are supported in the student version. I followed all the options relevant to my error, but the program kept crashing when I imported the STEP file.
Can I download the 2022 version somewhere?

Can you share the file?
No only the latest version of the Student is available.

I've attached a simple STEP file that I created to test the import. The program crashes even when I import this file.

Any success testing the import of the STEP file?

I have the same problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling HyperWorks and the issue persists. The file is probably not an issue because it's a part of Altair's own tutorial on Altair Learning. Either way, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple times too.
I'm attaching the file for reference in case there's an issue with it that I'm unaware of.

Hello all,
this is an issue with the current HW student edition ... this will be fixed in the next release of the student edition which will be the same package as the full version.
The workaround is wait for the next release of EDU, it'll be the full version.
