Periodicity when magnet losses with solid conductors must be calculated.

Hi everyone,

I am simulating a rotating PM machine with 8 poles with a periodicity of 4.

The Flux periodic model has only two poles.

I want to compute the magnet losses, hence I assigned to each magnet a solid conductor.

I calculated the magnet losses using a sensor on the solid conductors.

Do I have to multiply by the number of periods to obtain the total magnet losses or the solid conductors take into account the periodicity?

I also noticed that if I define to the magnet regions as "open circuit conductor" and then I calculate the losses with the sensors calculating the losses on the face region, the results are different. The losses calculated with the solid conductors are higher than the ones calculated with the open circuit conductor.

What is the best way to calculate the magnet losses?

Regards

    Hello Ciro;

    All the quantities you compute on the circuit or on the mechanical sets are given for the whole device, no need to multiply by the number of periodicity.

    All the quantities you compute on the regions, are only given for the desplayed portion, in this case, yes you have to multiplay by the number of periodicity.
