About the filtering used in SIMP method based topology optimization

Dear developers and users,

I want to know if the filtering schemes such as density filtering and sensitivity filtering are used in optistruct.

If it is, could anyone tell me what kind of filter is used and how can we change for different filters. Any further information will be appreciated.

If the answer is no, could you tell me how to avoid small components from being included in the optimization.

Best regards,

Jiaxin

    hi,

OptiStruct uses some variation of projection filter technique.

I don't think you can change the filtering.

To avoid small structures, you will enable minimum member size control, as shown in this video.

Thank you very much for your response.

I am curious about the projection filter technique used by optistruct.

What I know is that some techniques such as mesh independent filtering or density slope control were proven to be good in topology optimization, but couldn't find any description about these in optistruct user guidance...

Hope further information can be shared!
