Hi expert,
Can anyone explain how to Particle Traces?
Thank you.
Hello @Srowoo ,
I am assuming you are working on Metal Extrusion. Please let me know otherwise.
Also, may I know what is your goal for particle trace? There are two ways to do particle trace:
Approach #1: You pick the seed location either at the start(i.e. Billet-DummyBlock) or at the end ( Profile Exit face), then create particle traces - downstream /upstream of the flow. Then on these particle traces plot velocity, temperature, pressure, etc. This is useful for visualization purposes. For this, you will need the Altair HyperView post-processing tool.
With this approach, you can not export particle data to external files. If you want then you have to use approach #2.
Approach #2: Here the goal is to extract particle path history data to an external file to perform custom in-house post-processing by yourself. The extracted data is in *.CSV format. Here you can trace upstream/downstream depending on need. The history of a particle determines how the quality of the part will be in that specific location.
Method #2 is explained in FAQ section of Inspire Extrude help. Please go to help>InspireExtrude Metal>FAQs>Simulation> "How Do I Calculate Particle Traces Using Inspire Extrude?"
Thank you and best regards,
Narendra Singh
