H3D & Render Issues

Hello,
i want to use Evolve 2015 (4940) to render some FE- model files and later on crash analysis. The new render engine is quit impressive, but i have still some open points & questions.
- imported h3d files have not understandable units (original fe-model metric, millimetes e.g. 3000mm, Evolve a lot more... (40000...250000cm))
- can i modify imported h3d files?
- can i measure at imported h3d entities? (haven't found any way to pick h3d entities, e.g. nodes, points)
- i have a lot of problems with solid elements, almost always i get shading problems (see attached files)
- it looks like normal mapping problems, is there a way to solve this problem ?
- how it is possible to adjust material parameter to differentiate between sharp and smooth edges ?
- for me the new render system is faster and easier to use, but still not compatible to the system before !?
- whats about the entities inside the model browser, e.g light sets and lights? it seems they are from the old system
- it is not the first release of Evolve 2015, why this entities are inside the browser until today??
Best Regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,
- The issue with the units will be fixed in v2016 coming out later this year. The problem is that there is no unit information passed in the h3d file. In v2015 the numbers are read in as meters and then converted to the current session units (default cm).
- it is not possible to modify imported h3d files in Evolve.
- Evolve doesn't recognize nodes or points so it is not possible to measure.
- There was a fix for this type of shading issue in 4940. It would be helpful if you could send us this file. You can email me directly at chilton@solidthinking.com and I can send you a link inside Altair's firewall to send the file securely.
- Would need to see the file to see what the issue is.
- It is not possible to edit edge types with materials.
- Can you be more specific on the areas you feel are not as good as the previous version?
- The models in the model browser are carried over from the previous version, but have been updated to work with the new rendering system.
- The models in the browser are still useful for many of our customers.
Thanks,
