My component is removed in results file

Hi,

So I'm pretty new with this Hypermesh software and I'm having this issue with the model I'm analyzing.

I'm looking at a Linear static analysis of a  car jack model, where I've applied a force to the top of the model, and then a fixed support to the bottom of the model (shown below).

My issue is when I analyze the results, the component with the applied force gets removed from the results.

My thinking is that I'm doing something wrong with the connectors/contacts. Since it's likely the force is being applied and is "pushing" the component out of the system, rather than applying the force and then deforming the entire structure. I tried to use the connectors feature to fix this, but I still have the same problem.

I've attached my model and output file, if anyone could potentially offer some guidance/help? I understand I'm probably making quite a few errors, but I'm still learning how to use this software.

Thank you

Okay quick update... now I have a different problem. So now it does show the component, but it's only applying the load on that component itself.

Clearly I'm doing something wrong here, but I'm unsure again.

    Your connectors are unrealized.

The yellow dots will be green when realized.

I don't know what kind of analysis your doing or what you are looking to get from it, which definitely influences how to model it, but I might mid mesh the plates and use 1D elements for the bolts and screw, connecting them directly to the 2D mesh.  Again depending on what you are trying to get out of the model this could be bad advice but without more information it is hard to make recommendations. Also the constraints on the bolts will take vertical load and I don't think that will give you good results.

Ah I see. Well, the aim of my analysis is really just to see how much the car jack model will displace downwards and the stresses produced under differing loads. It's more of an exercise to gain a better understanding of the software.

I'm struggling a bit with this model with connecting all of the components together, to be able to see the total deformation of the model. I see what you mean with the 1D elements and the bolt constraints, I will try to do that now.

So I realized my issue was the contacts on my model, which meant the force wasn't being applied throughout the entire assembly of components. When I automatically generated the contacts, I've been getting errors for each contact due to a "pushout" problem?

I'm unsure what exactly to do, since I believe manually generating each contact will take quite a while.

You need to refine your mesh to make auto contact work or not use contact.  With the mesh density you have I would probably create a midsurface and mesh that (make sure you have a pshell property for 2D elements) then represent your bolts as 1D elements and connect them node to node to the shell not using contact at all.

Thank you very much, I'll try that now! It's confusing for me since I was used to using Ansys ahaha, where you can generate contacts quite easily in Fusion 360 and export them to Ansys and there aren't any issues.

Auto-contact sounds like a similar tool but your model as it stands isn't very conducive to using that tool.
