If you make the following selection in the Tet Mesh window, the 2D and 3D mesh will be listed separately.

SimLab, differently from HM, does not require to delete the shells once solid elements are created.
Once Solid elems are created, shells can still be selected (this is very practical for example to define contacts), but will not be exported and can not receive a property.
If you need both shells and solids, create a shell body on the outer faces. Use the option "duplicate and make shared faces".0 -

Hakan, this is in theory correct but the two bodies will not share the nodes. Please see before how to create shells sharing nodes with the solid body
