E3 for shell elements
Hello,
I am trying to simulate honeycomb structure and id like to ask you if there is a way to define E33, G23, G13, n23 and n31 for shell elements in OptiStruct? Unluckily when building my model i was referencing MAT8 Nastran card and just recently realized that there is no E3 field in OptiStruct. Is there any way to save myself from rebuilding shell model as solid model and using mat9ort?

E3 is not available for shell models in OS nor in Nastran.
Shell model assumption is that E3 is neglectible compared to other directions.
If you want to take into account these out-of-plane effects then you might want to work with MAT9OR using solid models/continuum shells. PCOMPLS
