Why is Simlab converting my 3D mesh into 2D (shell mesh) when I apply a load case?

The model consists of various components, and the bolts (2) are the only ones that get converted into 2D (shell) mesh when I try to apply the loadcase(s) necessary for my simulation. I tried to re-mesh them or even turn them into 3D mesh again but Simlab won't let me (a message saying the geometry has overlapping edges appears).

    Hi Ana,

sorry for the delay in responding.
This behavior is very unusual, and we definitely need more information to understand what is happening.

    - type of analysis? Solver?
    - type of solid bolts (tet? Hex?)
    - How were bolt created? By meshing a CAD? Or automatic in SL?
    - Is pretension present? How is the pretension cut created?

    Thanks
