Optistruct Error:1 License Error
Hello,
i have a problem with my HyperWorks Student Version. I want to run a Frequency Response Analysis with Optistruct, but there is always a license error code 9 ( shown in the picture in the attachment). Because of a former article in this forum ,I have checked the Ethernet ID and the license is in the security folder of my Hyperworks Program, so this is not the Problem. Besides a normal Modal Analysis with the same Model is working with Optistruct. Can anyone help me?
with best regards
Lukas Kneer

Just to check a few things:
1 - you have installed the Student installation package, right?
2 - Is HyperWorks/HyperMesh working fine? Any other product, such as Compose, is it working fine?
3 - is there any chance that your license file got duplicated extension? altair_lic.dat.dat? sometimes the "known" extensions are not shown, depending on your systems configuration
4 - Can you open your license file in a text editor and search for the 'OptiStruct FEA' feature? Is it there?

1 - Yes it is the Student Version
2 - Yes, e.g a modal analysis is working
3 - i have checked, that it is altair_lic.dat
4 - no there is not such a feature

I believe you are using a very old "Basic FEA" environment. Because the license feature for OptiStruct is simply "OptiStruct" and not "OptStructFEA."
Please open HyperMesh or HyperMesh Desktop and setup your model for FR analysis and run the model. I'm not too familiar with Basic FEA, but you might be able to open the database in HyperMesh or export the solver deck from BFEA to HM.

@Joshua Pennington : not really!
On our commercial server, the license features for Optistruct are:
FEATURE HWInspireOptistructSolver FEATURE HWOPtiStructMulti FEATURE HWOptiStruct FEATURE HWOptiStructAdvA FEATURE HWOptiStructCheck FEATURE HWOptiStructFEA FEATURE HWSimLabOptistructSolver

Lukas,
Are you submitting the job the FR job from HyperMesh on your workstation?
The only limitation for .edu licenses is a 100k nodal count. So this is a version curious issue.

The student edition OS solver does not need OS features, it works with just the one feature called HyperWorksEDU which is in the student license file.
from the error there seems to be two license files being pointed at, can you make sure you only have one license file in your computer, the right one? see if that helps.
make sure the .fem file is in a simple location and there are no spaces or special characters in the file name like I see in this error message,
see if the analysis runs without the optskip option or such options in the optistruct solver panel,
@Lukas Kneer can you send us the .fem file? if none of this helps
