Hi,

I am trying to model compression (IMPOSED DISP) of a bead (LAW40) between platens (LAW2) in radioss. Top and bottom contacts are defined using INTER/TYPE7 with the following values (Istf-4, Inacti-6, Iform-2).

There is no penetration at the bottom contact, whereas penetration of bead into the top plate is seen.

Any suggestions to overcome this issue?

Thanks,

Arun

    Hi,

make sure there are no initial penetrations and intersections.
There are 2 possible reasons for penetrations during the run:
-the edges are not detected because Interface type 7 does not deal with edge to edge impact. Define an additional symmetric type 7 interface or type 11 or 19 interfaces.

-there is a large difference in stiffness between contacting components
