NLFE belt system in-built function and define system manually

Hi,

When I am learning MS, I have a question about the NLFE belt system in the Wizards.

I use the in-built tools to generate a belt-pulley system, which is shown in picture1. belt width=1600mm. belt thickness=6mm

When I checked the NLFE body data, I saw lots of points in the connectivity.

I exported these points, it is a circle. If I define the NLFE body by these points manually, the shape of the belt (in picture 2) is different from the shape in picture 1. The belt is not connected to the pulley.

Does anyone know the reason? because of the Templex template? Thanks.

Regards

Theo

    Hello Theo

In the NLFE Belt pulley, the belt is modeled as a Pre-loaded NLFE body wrapped around the pulley, with the unloaded configuration assumed as circular in shape with the diameter as provided as Belt free diameter in the tool. By default, the points that form this no load shape is hidden.

The loaded configuration (or the profile that the belt follows in the wrapped configuration around the pulleys) can be accessed by toggling the View drop down in the NLFE body panel

The unloaded configuration can be positioned anywhere, but I believe the tool positions it at the centroid of the pulleys combination I believe.

    Hope this answers your question.
