Duration of Initial Conditions for nonlinear Analysis

Hi Folks,

I want to analyse a nonlinear transient structural model where a thin metal sheet/strip springs back from a deformed state. Therefore I'd like to apply a certain enforced displacement on a couple of nodes in a model as initial condition. Then I want those enforced displacements to be released so that the metal strip can spring back into its undeformed state. I am aware how to define an initial condition (applying constraint as TIC load type and then selecting this TIC in IC of the subcase). I wondered though, are initial conditions only active right at the start of the analysis or do they last for the whole duration of the analysis? Or are they even ramped down from an initial level down to 0?

In general, is my approach using initial conditions even the right way to tackle this problem or should I use other methods to analyse my model?

Cheers,

TIC is only applied during the initial phase of the analysis .Typically springback is quasi-static & you can do it within NLSTAT with enforced displacement SPC/SPCD. You could refer to below OS verification example.
