How to do an optimization for Axial Ratio

Hello

I am trying to reduce the axial ratio on a LHCP truncated patch antenna, however having little success using the Nelder-Mead method.

For the goal, the focus type is E-field, polarization is axial ratio, the operation is minimum and the operator type is minimize.

I have selected a few parameters to vary.

Is this the correct way to set up an optimization of this type or can anyone advise on other configurations?

Thanks

Adding additional goal function to reduce RHC gain helped and so did iterations with different starting values and using smaller and smaller values for the axial ratio goal.

    Your setup sounds correct.

    Sometimes switching optimization methods helps.

You could try the GRSM (global response surface method).
